Privacy policy

Slate is an internal reporting tool operated by Monkz Media ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data Slate accesses through Google, how it is used and how it is protected.

What Slate accesses

Slate uses YouTube API Services. With the permission of a channel owner, Slate reads the following from Google for that channel only:

Channel and video details (YouTube Data API, read-only): the list of videos on the channel, their titles, thumbnails and publish dates.
Analytics (YouTube Analytics API and YouTube Reporting API, read-only): per-video views, watch time, thumbnail impressions, click-through rate and estimated revenue.

Slate requests the Google OAuth scopes youtube.readonly, yt-analytics.readonly and yt-analytics-monetary.readonly. It does not request access to Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google service, and it cannot change anything on YouTube.

How the data is used

The data is used for one purpose: producing internal performance reports about the connected channels' own videos, so the Monkz Media team can compare thumbnails and titles and plan future uploads. Data from one channel is only shown to people who work on that channel.

We do not sell the data, use it for advertising, share it with third parties, or use it to build profiles of viewers. Reports contain aggregated per-video figures; Slate never receives information about individual viewers.

Storage and retention

Retrieved data is stored on systems controlled by Monkz Media and is refreshed regularly from Google. Analytics data is kept only as long as it is needed for reporting and is deleted when a channel is disconnected or on request. Authentication tokens are stored on our own systems with restricted access and are never shared.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Slate's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Because Slate uses YouTube API Services, users are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Withdrawing access

A channel owner can revoke Slate's access at any time from the Google Account permissions page. Slate stops reading data for that channel immediately, and stored data for it is deleted on request.
